Spending Halloween in Florida doesn’t have to be all about candy corn or ghastly attractions. It is perfectly acceptable to host a boo-tiful, alternative celebration that shines with sophistication. For example, the event could focus on classic literature, like Washington Irving’s Legend of Sleepy Hollow or Edgar Allan Poe’s Spirits of the Dead. And if you decide to go that route, let our Orlando ballroom serve as the host destination.
Pair black and white table linens along with lilies submerged in water. Ask any number of Orlando florists and they will tell you that the flower has long been associated with the spirit world. And as for water, it is widely recognized as the symbol of transition and life. So they would go perfectly together and surely make the best, sophisticated, Halloween table decorations.
Also, we have a variety of table mirrors and volatile candles that would add to a refined, Halloween theme too. As for the music, perhaps an orchestra or big band would fill the bill. Over the years, various musical scores have been written for live performances of Irving’s tale. Plus, Poe’s poem has been put to orchestra music in the past too.
And there are other non-related scores that would fit in as well. The list of songs our Orlando ballroom staff thought of includes, but isn’t restricted to:
- Amore Mio, Si Muero y tu No Mueres
- Night on Bald Mountain
- Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta
- When I am Laid in Earth
- Der Vampyr
- Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten
- Danse Macabre
