Tower of Confection Perfection

Who even needs a cake? Or at least a traditional cake? This year towers of confections, such as cupcakes, donuts and macaroons, will find a place at the wedding cake table. These gorgeous creations typical use tower stands with layers of sweets. It’s an advantage that these confections don’t need to be cut like a traditional wedding cake, and you can provide a lot of taste and flavor variety.


Metallic decorative finishes or even entire tiers of a cake are becoming increasingly popular. Including gold, silver and copper colors, these finishes can offer fine details or get painted over textured layers to look like an expensive foil print. Some brides are designing entire cakes in this finish while others use a pop of metallic to create contrast.

Blushing Bride Pinks

In 2016, there will be a return to romantic, soft pinks. These cakes will feature a palest pink fondant and flowers in varying shades of pink from dark pink roses to blush pink wild flowers that cascade down the side of the cake or adorn the top.
