Who knew that there were so many things to consider when planning your fairytale wedding at the Crystal Ballroom of Tampa Bay? From flowers and invitations to decorations and food, the list seems to go on for miles. Not only do you want to have a magical day, you want to ensure that your guest enjoys it as much as you do. One of the biggest things to consider when it comes to wedding planning is the food. Are you going to have a sit-down meal or a buffet? If you’re going to do a buffet, do you want to set up themed food stations? Here are some food issues that can affect some of your guests to consider.

Gluten Free

It seems that you can’t open a magazine or go online without seeing a story about going gluten free and people who suffer from gluten allergies. Many companies are now offering gluten-free options for every type of food from pizza and ice cream to cookies and pasta. With this in mind, you might consider offering a gluten-free option during your wedding reception. You can discuss the possibilities with your caterer and come up with a menu that works for everyone at the receptions.

Vegetarian

Your dad might love a juicy steak but your Aunt Mary might refuse to eat meat at all. When planning a reception, you need to consider offering a vegetarian option. If you’re having a sit-down meal, you can offer a special entree that’s vegetarian. However, if you’re offering a buffet, it’s easy to slip in a couple of vegetarian options along with a salad bar for your friends that stay away from meat.

Peanut Allergies

If one of your guests has peanut allergies, the consequences can be serious if they encounter a nut. When printing the menus, work closely with your caterer to identify any dishes that might contain a contamination and list it on the menu. If you plan to offer a buffet, make sure the placard announcing the dish inside lists any pertinent peanut contamination. Of course, you might consider printing a list of items that have peanuts or peanut oil in them and offering them to guests so they know what to steer clear of if they have allergies.
