The old adage that says “if anything can possibly go wrong, it will go wrong” is often accurate for any special occasion, and weddings are no exception. If you are planning to exchange your vows at an outdoor ceremony, there are a few things you should consider before fully committing to the idea.
While rain can be the biggest and most obvious hindrance to an outdoor ceremony, foul weather that may spoil your day can also include excessive heat, oppressive humidity, and wind. If you are determined to say “I do” outdoors, consider the season before finalizing your wedding date, and choose a time of year when temperatures are mild and humidity levels are low.
Florida is known for an abundance of mosquitoes, gnats, and love bugs. If an outdoor wedding is a must for you, consider holding your ceremony during the middle of the day, avoiding dawn or dusk when these pests are generally more visible and abundant.
Regulations and Permits
Before committing to a ceremony site, check with local authorities regarding any regulations that govern the area or permits that may need to be obtained for your event. If weddings and official ceremonies are prohibited at the site you had your heart set on, rest assured that there is usually a very valid reason for the prohibition, and chances are, you, your spouse-to-be, and your wedding party would actually be more comfortable holding your ceremony at a different location.
While outdoor ceremonies can be stunningly beautiful and incredibly romantic, you may wish to book a reception site that could double as a ceremony site in case of any unforeseen conditions that may mar your ceremony site on your wedding day.
The Crystal Ballroom is one such special event venue! We strive to be more than just a reception site, and can recommend various locations on our properties that would be perfect for the exchanging of vows. In the event of inclement weather or other threatening factors, your ceremony could easily be moved inside to one of our spacious ballrooms, so that the wedding you always dreamed of having could continue without a hitch.
