Using Escort Cards:

What’s the difference between escort cards and place cards? Escort cards direct your guests to their assigned table, so they’re usually displayed at the entrance to your reception. Place cards are put on the table to show guests their assigned seat. Depending on your preferences, you may want to skip the place cards and let your guests choose their own seats at their assigned tables.

Addressing Escort Cards:

Your cards can be as informal or formal as you like! Generally, you want to try to be consistent about using or not using titles. You can even give each guest their own escort card or create a single card for each couple or family. If possible, you should also try to find out the names of the guests of your guests so you can refer to them by name instead of having to say “John Smith and Guest.”

Designing and Displaying Escort Cards: 

Escort cards can be fun! You can stick with the traditional little cards on heavy stock inside their own miniature envelopes or you can skip the envelopes and use tented cards. You can also get creative with placing little objects like seashells or toys on top of each card. You can even replace the paper cards, and put your guests’ names on a variety of things like chunks of wood, apples, stones or old vinyl records. Whatever you do, arrange the escort cards in alphabetical order so your guests can find them.
