Few things in life are as exciting as a wedding. The birth of a long-awaited child may be the exception, but for many women, their wedding is the day they dream about since childhood. Dreaming up a memorable ceremony and lavish reception is one thing; being able to pay for it is another. If you are worried that you will have to start your wedded life wallowing in debt caused by your matrimonial celebrations, read on.
Although most couples head down the aisle already deep in consumer debt, it is entirely possible to plan a fantastic celebration without the expensive price tag. Today, we have complied a list of three ways to get the ballroom wedding you’ve always dreamed of, at a price that will not give you nightmares.
It Starts with the Dress
One of the biggest mistakes newly engaged women make is that they start hunting for the dress without first understanding all the costs involved in a wedding. If a bride spends $27,000 on her gown, but has only a $30,000 wedding budget, she may find herself all dressed up with no place to go, except for maybe the county courthouse for a meeting with the Justice of the Peace. By understanding all the costs in a typical wedding ceremony and reception, she can lay out a wedding budget, and not get in over her head when buying a wedding dress she really can’t afford.
Raise a Glass, or Not!
Alcohol can be one of the biggest expenses of your reception. To help you keep tabs on your wedding costs, consider serving only one alcoholic beverage, or even creating your own signature wedding punch in lieu of an alcoholic drink. Of course, whatever type of beverage you choose to serve at your reception, you are welcome to bring your own beverages to the Crystal Ballroom. Our in-house bartender will be happy to chill and serve your drinks, and we never charge additional cork-fees or taxes.
Let Them Eat Cake
Want to save a little on the cake? Consider ordering a simple wedding cake to cut in front of your guests, but have extra iced sheet cakes waiting in the wings for your guests to enjoy. Rectangular sheet cakes tend to be less expensive than tiered wedding cakes, so if you are expecting a crowd at your reception, this tip could really help you save. Once you and your groom have done the traditional cake cutting, and pictures have been taken, wait staff can whisk your official wedding cake away from view to be cut and served along with your pre-plated sheet cake slices. Your guests will never be the wiser.
