Feeling good is a big part of looking good. You don’t want your wedding dress to be squeezing you in all the wrong places on the happiest day of your life. At the Crystal Ballroom, we couldn’t agree more. Try our comfort test for making sure your wedding dress behaves itself.

Consider your options: Gowns with beading and boning look beautiful on the runways of fashion shows and in the pages of bridal magazines, but they might not be so pleasant when you try them on. Do you want to spend hours on your feet in a dress that weighs 20 pounds or more? Do you mind having something digging into your ribs all day? Proper alterations may help, but some fabrics and styles are just more difficult than others.

Add in undergarments: Most wedding dresses will require special undergarments. While shapewear can smooth out some bumps, you can’t hold your breath forever. Go shopping with realistic expectations.

Move around: Can you sit down gracefully, and dance without any embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions?  Plan for mealtimes too. When you’re already too nervous to eat, you don’t want to create any more obstacles to keeping your strength up.

Prepare for bathroom breaks: We don’t want to get too personal, but will you be able to use the restrooms? A good friend may be willing to help if you have to take everything off.

Change clothes: If you have your heart set on a dress that makes a lot of demands on your body, you might want to limit the hours you’ll be wearing it. You can always do a wardrobe change in between your ceremony and the reception.
